Pistachios Flower

As with most wind-pollinated plants, pistachio flowers are small and not showy, as with, left, the female ‘Golden Hills’ and, center, male ‘Randy’. Male trees are commonly planted as every fifth tree in every fifth row to provide adequate pollination. Right, a ‘Golden Hills’ nut cluster demonstrates greater development of red color in the hull than ‘Kerman’.
